Free NFA/ATF Fire Investigation Training for PA Fire and Law Enforcement.
Enhance your skills in fire investigation! The Tioga County Firemen’s Association is sponsoring a valuable two-day NFA/ATF course.
The Tioga County Firemen’s Association, in partnership with Northern Pennsylvania Regional College and Commonwealth University–Mansfield, is hosting the NFA/ATF-N 0770 Fire Investigation: First Responders course.
This two-day NFA/ATF - N 0770 Fire Investigation: First Responders course, led by NFA/ATF instructor David Cusatis, provides a foundational understanding of fire investigation for first responders.
Students will review the basics of fire chemistry and develop an understanding of the role of the first responder in relation to fire suppression and fire investigation.
The course will stress the importance of fire scene awareness, evidence identification, preservation, and the basics of a fire investigation. Students will develop an appreciation for the convergence of suppression, investigation, science, and law. Learning interviewing skills & questions as it applies to Fire Investigation, and critical observations at fire scenes.
Recommended: This course is also highly recommended for fire and emergency services personnel involved in initial fire response or preliminary origin and cause investigations.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for fire and law enforcement agencies, as well as other relevant professionals.
The course will be held at Commonwealth University - Mansfield, Retan Center, 55 Wilson Avenue, Mansfield, PA 16933, in Rooms G1 and G2.
Prerequisites for this course include:
· Minimum age of 18 years.
· Five (5) years of active service.
· Completion of Essentials of Firefighting or equivalent.
· ICS-100 (Q0462) and ICS-200 (Q0463) training (available online through the NFA).
Chief's signature is required to verify that the applicant meets the age, service time, and training prerequisites
This training is open to all state and local sworn police officers nationwide. The curriculum is provided by the National Fire Academy.
